Winery Open Days Greece | Wine Tastings & Wineries Near You

A day trip, a vineyard and a few glasses of wine.

If you have been looking for an excuse to visit a winery, Winery Open Days — or Open Doors — may be one of the best.

Every spring, wineries across Greece welcome visitors for a weekend dedicated to wine, vineyards and the people behind the bottles.

And the best part?

You do not need to be a wine expert. You just need to be curious about what is inside your glass.

What are Winery Open Days?

Winery Open Days are a nationwide wine tourism event during which participating wineries welcome visitors for a full weekend.

Depending on the winery, you may be able to:

It is one of the easiest ways to experience wine tourism in Greece, even if you have never visited a winery before.

🍷 Did you know?

Winery Open Days began in 2004 through the Wine Roads of Northern Greece and developed into a nationwide event from 2010 onwards.

Today, every spring, wine lovers and curious travellers have the perfect excuse to step inside wineries, meet producers and discover the Greek vineyard up close.

When are Winery Open Days in Greece?

The event takes place every spring, usually in May, with wineries across Greece participating during the same wine-focused weekend.

In 2026, Winery Open Days took place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, with participating wineries generally open from 11:00 to 19:00.

Entry was free as part of the event, while many wineries organised their own programmes of guided tours, tastings and additional activities.

Dates, opening hours and individual activities change every year and may vary by winery, so always check the programme before you travel.

Vineyard and winery during Open Days

“There are no wineries near me” — there probably are

When we think about wine tourism in Greece, places like Nemea, Santorini or Naoussa usually come to mind first.

But the Greek vineyard is much closer than many people realise.

From Attica and Nemea to Thessaly, Macedonia, Epirus, Crete and the Greek islands, wineries can be found throughout the country.

Even around Athens, the vineyards of Attica are home to many wineries that welcome visitors.

So the next time you search for:

“winery near me”
“wine tasting near me”
“winery near Athens”
or “wine tours in Greece”,

you may be surprised by how close your next wine experience actually is.

Open the map, find the nearest winery and turn your next day trip into something a little different.

And if you are in Nemea?

Then things become even easier.

Nemea is one of Greece’s most important wine regions and the home of Agiorgitiko, one of the country’s best-known native red grape varieties.
